Usborne Books & More – Who are we? Our History. Our books. And why we are so special.
It all started with Educational Development Corporation (EDC). They were founded in 1961 to develop supplemental curriculum material for schools. Then in 1978, EDC acquired the right to publish children’s books from Usborne Publishing in England.
That’s when we began distributing the largest product line for the company. Our headquarters are located in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
What began as a supplemental curriculum product for schools, ended in exclusively selling just Usborne books in 1989. And a whole new concept emerged… the direct selling division was created and we were Usborne Books at Home (UBAH).
Oh but that’s not all! In 2008, EDC acquired Kane Miller Publishing, an internationally known children’s books publisher with over 20 years in the industry. Thus, the name changed to Usborne Books & More.
Our mission is as follows:
The future of our world depends on the education of our children. Usborne Books & More delivers educational excellence one book at a time. We provide economic opportunity while fostering strong family values. We touch the lives of children for a lifetime.
Our mission says it all. We believe that the foundation of a strong America is in being proficient readers. And our books help close the achievement gap.
